Now back to the regularly (?) scheduled pony.
Another commission from shinepawpony [link]
This is Ai Kido and Stormy Skies at a hanami, or a flower viewing festival. This one happens to be for sakura aka cherry blossoms. Basically it's like a picnic where you sit and watch the flowers. They are having sushi, sake, and a pie. As for the people, just really wanted it to be in the actual Japan. And yes, they are wearing formal kimono.
This will be the last Japanese inspired one for a while, got other plans and ideas.

Hanami is a tradition from Japan where people gather to watch the flowering plants. Typically either the Plum or Cherry Blossoms. It doesn't have a set date, but they forcast it and it tends to happen when Japanese schools are starting (April). It was origonally to forcast the grain harvests. It involves food, drink, games and music.

What I find most awesome is that the mare has the sword. Awesome artwork too! ^^

Always, she is the cool one, the fighter. The stallion is just a linguist/translator.

Who else wants to see the Cutie Mark Crusaders performing "Three Little Maids from School" at some point?

Anyway, Japanese ponies are awesome. Kimono in G3 was my fave.

Never seen G3 kimono, will have to look it up sometime.
And now you have that song stuck in my head wondering how it would turn out.
